Kerala flood survivors tun up at Aluva UC College
KOCHI: Hundreds of flood survivors, who made
Aluva UC was the largest flood relief camp in the district and it housed around 6,000 flood victims. Inaugurating the get together, education minister prof C Raveendranath said it was the people’s collective, which helped to overcome the challenges during the deluge and the state should continue with it in the next stage too.
"The contribution of fishermen during rescue operation will always be remembered. The involvement of rescuers, officials, defence, organisations and public will also be part of the history. The state government is trying to consolidate the ideas emerged at the get together programmes in all districts in order to complete rebuild projects,” said Raveendranath.
The keys of houses, built under Care Home and Life projects, were also distributed to beneficiaries at the event, where participation of women was notable. As there was space shortage at the auditorium and drizzle outside, many people left for home soon after attending the programme.

UC College their home for many days during the devastating deluge last year, once again turned up at the college premise on Saturday afternoon. Survivors from other parts of the district, mainly from Paravur taluk also turned up at the college, eleven months after the flood, as part of the resurgent Kerala initiative of the government.Aluva UC was the largest flood relief camp in the district and it housed around 6,000 flood victims.
