Kerala: Film director held for sexual assault

KOCHI: City police on Sunday arrested a film director for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman on multiple occasions.
The arrested person was identified as Liju Krishna (30), son of Balakrishnan, Mattannur, Kannur. The accused was directing an upcoming star-studded Malayalam film and he was taken into custody from a film location in Kannur.
According to the police, the accused was arrested after a case was registered based on a woman’s complaint.As per the complaint, the accused sexually abused the woman, hailing from Kakkanad, on multiple occasions, police said.
The woman complained that the accused sexually abused her at a house in Kakkanad, Edathala and Kannur, police said. The alleged assaults took place between December 2020 and June 2021. Infopark police said that the accused was booked under relevent sections of IPC, including Section 376 (rape).
A special investigation team was formed under the Infopark circle inspector to investigate the case based on the direction of Kochi city DCP VU Kuriakose. The accused would be produced before a magistrate late on Sunday, police said.
