Kochi: Magician Gopinath Muthukad inaugurated a family meet of Early Intervention Centre for Disabled Children at Peace Valley in Kothamangalam on Thursday. Children, who are under therapy at the centre, performed at the function.
“The mindset of the society should change to the point that it is the social responsibility to hold the disabled people together with us.
We need an inclusive academic system where disabled should not be considered as a special category,” Muthukad said.
At the centre, the children are equipped scientifically to get normal school education. Children up to the age of six years are given therapy and other interventions required, under the guidance of a team of seven therapists. Developmental paediatrician is preparing an action plan on therapy.
As many as 96 children are currently subjected to various therapies at the centre, which started functioning in January this year.
