NEW DELHI: In the serene village of Pallickal in Kerala's Pathanamthitta district, an unusual dispute took center stage—not over property or money, but a rooster's early morning crowing. For Radhakrishna Kurup, an elderly resident, restful sleep had become a distant dream.

The reason? Every day at 3am, his neighbour Anil Kumar's rooster would start crowing relentlessly, disturbing Kurup's sleep and daily peace. Unable to bear the constant disruption, Kurup, already in poor health, decided to take action. He filed a formal complaint with the Adoor Revenue Divisional Office (RDO), citing the rooster's loud routine as a serious nuisance.

Taking the matter seriously, the RDO launched an investigation, treating the complaint with due importance. Both Kurup and Kumar were summoned to discuss the issue, and officials later conducted an on-site inspection.

Their findings confirmed that Kumar kept his roosters on the upper floor of his house, and the crowing was indeed affecting Kurup's comfort. To address the situation, the RDO ordered Kumar to relocate the poultry shed to the southern side of his property, away from Kurup's residence.

A deadline of 14 days was set for the relocation, ensuring a peaceful resolution to this peculiar neighbourhood quarrel.
