KOCHI: District police chief (Ernakulam Rural) K Karthick said that restrictions would be strengthened in those areas were the test positivity rate (TPR) is high.
More police officials will be deployed in such areas and special squads will be engaged for patrolling. The surveillance over those in quarantine will be tightened and strict actions will be taken against violators, he said.
Ernakulam rural police on Tuesday registered 201 cases of lockdown violations and arrested 41 persons.
Around 131 vehicles were confiscated for violating the Covid-19 protocols. Actions were taken against 1,535 people for not maintaining social distancing in public places and 1,372 people for not wearing masks.
Cases were registered against four persons for violating quarantine restrictions.
In Ernakulam rural police district, 20,962 applications for e-pass were received so far and only 2,630 passes were issued.
