Ernakulam rural police arrest 16 in cyberfraud crackdown
Kochi: Ernakulam rural police arrested 16 people as part of a crackdown against cyberfraud.The arrests were part of the continuation of Operation Cy-Hunt, launched to counter the rising number of cyberfraud cases. Of the 16 arrested, 13 were produced in court and remanded in judicial custody.

A total of 36 FIRs were registered as part of the operation and nine devices were seized. The arrested individuals included those involved in online financial fraud, providing bank accounts to others and withdrawing other people's money that came into their accounts using cheques and ATM cards. Police said that transactions involving large sums of money occurred through these accounts.
