New college chairperson stops private bus to celebrate with dad

Kochi: A touching moment unfolded amidst the jubilant celebrations of the KSU's student union election victory at Kalamassery Women's Polytechnic College on Friday. Vaiga Nath K J, a third-year architecture student who had just been elected chairperson, experienced an unexpected and emotional encounter with her father on a busy public road, adding a personal triumph to her political win.
Vaiga's father, Jinunath K G, works as a private bus driver on the Aluva-Ernakulam route. While revelling in her victory with friends, Vaiga caught sight of her father driving his bus in the distance. She instinctively waved the bus down, eager to share the special moment with him.
"We were in the midst of celebrating when I saw my father driving towards us. I had to stop the bus and celebrate with him—it was a moment I'll never forget," Vaiga said.
The image of father and daughter celebrating was widely shared, including by opposition leader V D Satheesan, who posted the photograph on FB, congratulating Vaiga on her election victory. This election marked a historic win for KSU at the college, as the student organization swept all the seats, claiming victory for the first time in 35 years.
