Guruvayoor Padmanabhan

, a tusker of the Guruvayoor Devaswom, on a request from Devaswom officials.

Recently, the Devaswom-appointed expert committee found that the tusker suffered swelling on its body and they are providing ayurvedic and allopathic treatment to it .

Guruvayoor Devaswom deputy administrator S Sasidaran said, “Dr Kunal Sharma, who inspected the tusker, recommended the continuation of its treatment. The doctor said that the tusker’s health will be better within a week.”

“The doctor also suggested against the forest department’s decision of forcible rest to the tusker. Instead, he advised morning and evening walks. The doctor also said the tusker is suffering from age-related issues,” Sasidaran added.

The forest department had imposed curbs on Guruvayoor tuskers ‘Guruvayoor Padmanabhan’ and ‘Valiyakesavan’ on December 7 over participation in any functions due to age and health-related issues.
