Drug trafficking in Kerala schools: Mother of students seeks CBI probe

KOCHI: The mother of a Class 8 student from Kozhikode has filed a petition before the Kerala high court seeking a CBI probe into organized drug trafficking in school campus after her daughter was allegedly used as a drug carrier.


The chief minister made a statement in the legislative assembly “exonerating” the accused, she alleged while seeking an impartial probe.

Alleging collusion between the police and the drug mafia, the petition filed through advocate A Rajasimhan said a CBI probe is the only remedy to ensure a free, fair, and effective investigation into the larger conspiracy of the case.

The case relates to the plight of a 12-year-old student of a government school at Azhiyoor who was active in the Student Police Cadet Project and Kabbadi.

It is alleged that she was given biscuits containing drugs by a girl student of Class 9 during Kabbadi practice and then she was given MDMA by a girl studying in Class 11.

They introduced her to one Neeraja and Adhinan outside the campus. Once she became fully addicted, the outsiders took her and two other girl students to Thalassery and Mahi. There, she was introduced to one Ramnas and was routinely used for drug trafficking, the petition said.

Though the girl had narrated her plight to Chombala police and Adhinan was questioned, police colluded with him and recorded a false statement of her alleging that he had touched her indecently, the mother’s plea said. Ramnas and Adhinan were immediately released by the police. Her daughter’s statement was manipulated by sub inspectors Maneesh and Vasudhevan KN and woman police officer Rajeesha after Neeraja came to the station and interacted with the police while the child’s statement was being recorded, the petition stated.

Adhinan belongs to DYFI and his father Siddique is an influential leader of IUML, the mother alleged in the plea. A news channel aired an interview with the child revealing the collusion between the police and the drug mafia and the child is now being tortured by the teachers at the school for reporting the crime, stated the plea.
