Doctor files plaint against online fake message

KOCHI: Cybercell with Kochi city police have received a complaint from prominent oncologist Dr V P that a was being spread through social media offering ‘natural cures’ for cancer using his name and image.

According to police, the complaint said that message made absurd claims like drinking lemon juice for three months was effective than chemotherapy and urged the officers to take necessary action against those circulate such messages.

“The message written over a picture of Dr Gangadharan claims that the doctor has been trying to spread this message for the past two years. It asks to keep away from sugar, cancer will be cured on its own. Consume organic oil daily to get relief from cancer, it states,” said police.

Cyber police officers said that action would be initiated on the complaint. “We urge people to not fall for such claims,” said an officer.
