Cusat campus to have ‘Gen-Z’ post office

Kochi: Post office at Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) campus in Kalamassery is being transformed into a next-generation post office aiming to make postal services more appealing and accessible to students.The facility will feature modern amenities such as smart service counters, free Wi-Fi, charging ports, reading corners and leisure spaces. The initiative seeks to blend traditional postal services with contemporary requirements, creating a more engaging environment for young users. According to a postal department official, this will be the fourth such post office in Kerala, following similar initiatives on other campuses across Kottayam and Thiruvananthapuram. "We primarily target students, so they remain connected with postal services. Several post offices functioning within campuses are being transformed into ‘Gen-Z' post offices," the official said. Philately products will also be showcased at the facility to spark interest in stamp collection among students. "The overall ambience will be distinct from regular post offices and will offer a better user experience, encouraging students to utilise departmental services," the official added. The project is in its final stages, and the date for inauguration is yet to be announced.
