KOCHI: MC Josephine, member of the
Central Committee
of the
Communist Party
of India (Marxist) passed away on Sunday. She was 73.
The senior leader was actively participating in the ongoing Party
Congress of
CPM, which was being held in Kannur,
Kerala. She sustained a heart attack on Saturday evening while attending the party Congress and was moved to AKG hospital in Kannur. She was undergoing treatment in the critical care unit and passed away on Sunday.
She was the former chairperson of the state women’s commission and held the post from 2017 to 2021. She has also held posts like chairperson of women’s development corporation. She became the CPM
Ernakulam
district committee member in 1984 and state committee member in 1987. She had been in the central committee since 2002.
Josephine served as a councillor to the Angamaly municipality for 13 years. She has also contested in the Kerala legislative assembly elections and the Loksabha elections. Senior leaders expressed condolences over her demise.
