The decision was taken at the bilateral peace meeting held at the Government Guest House here on Saturday morning, which was attended by the State-level leaders of the CPM, BJP and the RSS, including CPM State secretary

Kodiyeri Balakrishnan

,

district secretary P Jayarajan

,

BJP State president Kummanam Rajasekharan

, RSS Pranthkaryavahak P Gopalankutty Master among others.

The leaders said the meeting, which was called in the backdrop of the violence in Thiruvananthapuram, was cordial and it was decided all efforts would be taken to prevent any kind of clashes between the workers of both the parties. If at all something untoward happens, steps would be taken to curb it then and there itself and it would be allowed to spread to other places.

After the meeting, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said peace efforts would be taken to the lower strata of both the parties and meetings would be held in Payyannur and Thalassery within ten days. The meeting in Payyannur would be held on August 11. These two places had recently witnessed CPM-BJP clashes, and hence the decision to hold meetings there.

Terming the recent incidents of violence as unfortunate, Kummanam Rajasekharan said no blood should be spilled and the State should be saved from any type of violence. At the same time there should be organizational freedom.

Sources said the meeting was more open and some effective steps were discussed by both the parties.
