A division bench led by chief justice

S Manikumar

disposed the petition (WP-C No. 20834/2021) filed by advocate MS Vineeth after the state government submitted that it has issued in-principle approval to homeopathy department’s plan to administer homeo preventive medicine and that the project is named ‘Karuthalode Munnottu’.

The government had produced before the court a copy of the order issued by it directing for obtaining the consent of parents before administering homeo preventive medicine to children. Through the order, the government had also directed the homeopathy director to procure and distribute the medicine.

In the petition, it was pointed out that the state government had approved the action plan of Department of Homeopathy to provide homeo medicines against COVID-19 and that this submission was recorded by the high court in a judgment. A Supreme Court judgment in which the use of homeopathic medicines as a therapeutic aid in preventing Covid-19 was cited by the petitioner. Widespread use of homeopathic medicines against Covid-19 has been validated through the two judgments, the petitioner had contended.

Even though doctor Cyriac Abby Philips, a specialist in hepatology and liver transplant medicine, had sought to implead in the case alleging that there is no scientific data to prove the efficacy of homeopathic preventive medicine, the court did not allow the plea.
