KOCHI: Kerala government on Tuesday informed the high court that it has prepared an action plan to administer homeopathic preventive medicines for
Covid-19
to children in view of school reopening on November 1st.
Government told the court that it has given in-principle approval to the project submitted by the homeopathy department named ‘
Karuthalodu Munnottu
’. An order issued by the government asking the director of homeopathy to procure the preventive medicines and to ensure that consent from parents are obtained prior to administering the medicines to school-going children was also produced before the court.
The submission by the government was in response to a petition filed by advocate
MS Vineeth
seeking a directive to the government to immediately administer homeopathic preventive medicines to willing children in view of the move to reopen the schools.
It was alleged by the petitioner that he had filed a representation before the government with the same demand but no action was taken.
In the petition, it was pointed out that the state government had approved the action plan of Department of Homeopathy to provide homeo medicines against Covid-19 and that this submission was recorded by the high court in a judgment. A Supreme Court judgment in which the use of homeopathic medicines as a therapeutic aid in preventing Covid-19 was cited by the petitioner. Widespread use of homeopathic medicines against Covid-19 has been validated through the two judgments, the petitioner had contended.
