The charge of abetment of suicide will be slapped against vice-principal K N Sakthivel and faculty member C P Praveen (who had allegedly caught Jishnu cheating in the exam), said police officials. Thrissur range IG Ajith Kumar confirmed the inclusion of the ‘abetment of suicide’ section in the case. “The investigation officer will decide on the persons to be booked under the charges,” he added.
A report on the progress in the probe submitted by Narayanan to the state human rights commission a few days ago had pointed out that scientific evidences regarding the suicide note and other such materials are being analysed. A decision on further action in the case would be taken based on this, she had said.
Responding to the reports on the latest developments in the case, Jishnu’s uncle Sreejith K K said that police have informed the family that a case regarding abetment of suicide would be registered soon.
“It is pathetic that the police officers took more than a month to suspect the reason behind his suicide. But still, we don’t know whether all the accused would be included in the case,” he said, adding that the action committee would still go ahead with the protest in front of the chairman’s house from Monday.
