Concerned about students’ future: VC

in his explanation letter to governor Arif Mohammad Khan, who is also the chancellor of the varsity, has said that MGU had given moderation in the BTech course for the benefit of students.

The governor had sought an explanation from the vice-chancellor on the alleged awarding of special moderation to a BTech student violating the rules.

In his reply, the VC on Friday, he has cited similar precedence in MG University and other universities like Calicut University. “Only the syndicate can take such a policy decision. It was decided by the syndicate unanimously to help the student community,” he said.

He said that students, who have completed 55 papers, could not complete the degree because they could not pass in one paper. He also said that they were concerned about the future of the students. “We wanted to help such students,” he added. “We stand for social justice and there is nothing controversial about it,” he said. He added that he stands for quality and will transform the university into one of the best in the country during his tenure. Already, 125 students of the varsity have passed in their BTech course based on the one-line order of the varsity issued on May 17.
