Thrissur: The Central Sahitya Akademi translation prizes for 2021 were conferred on 18 eminent translators at a function held at the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy Hall in Thrissur on Friday.
The winners who received the prizes were Pori Hiloidari (Assamese), Indira Boro (Bodo), Neelam Sarin (Dogri), Dharanendra Kurkuri (Hindi), Guruling Kapse (Kannada), Piarey Hatash (Kashmiri), Geetha Shenoy (Konkani), Sunil Naliyath (Malayalam), MM Ahmed (Manipuri), wife of (Late) Kumar Nawathe (Marathi), Sanjib Upadhyaya (Nepali), Gourahari Das (Odia), Sri Bhajanbir Singh (Punjabi), Sanjay Purohit (Rajasthani), Damayanti Beshra (Santali), Maalan (V Narayanan) (Tamil), Kakarla Sajaya (Telugu), Arjumand Ara (Urdu).
Prize winners, Neeta Sen Samarth (Bengali), Shanta Gokhale (English), Sonal Parikh (Gujarati), representative of (Late) Shikha Goyal (Maithili), R Ganesh and Shashi Kiran BN (Sanskrit) and Meena Gope Rupchandani (Sindhi) could not attend the ceremony.
Sahitya Akademi president Chandrashekhar Kambar presided over the function whiledistinguished poet, curator, critic, writer and scholar Ranjit Hoskote, was the chief guest.
