Kochi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has agreed to include road safety awareness in its curriculum, Justice K S Radhakrishnan, chairman, supreme court's road safety committee, said on Saturday.
He was speaking during the state-wide inauguration of the road safety week to be observed from January 10 to 16, at St Paul's College, Kalamassery.

Justice Radhakrishnan said that the committee, set up to check lax implementation of road laws, is introducing various methods to ensure road safety
"We have already held discussions with the All India Automobile Association and they have been directed to sell only cars with basic safety requirements like airbag from 2017 onwards in the country," the justice said.
Another initiative is to make it mandatory for film exhibitors to screen road safety awareness films before every show and linking of the clause while issuing exhibitor licences.
"All shop dealers will be directed to provide reflectors while selling bicycles," he said.
PWD Minister V K Ebrahim Kunju, transport commissioner Tomin J Thachankary, KV Thomas MP and district panchayat president Asha Sunil attended the event.
The week-long programmes include road safety caricature, cartoon exhibition, Ottamtullal, vintage car show, magic show and street play as part of creating awareness.
