Dramatic scenes unfolded in front of Hadiya's house after the group told the officers in charge of her security that they had come to give her Onam presents on behalf of a social media collective.

They also told Hadiyas father Ashokan that they had come to present dress and books as Onam gift to Hadiya. However,

Hadiya's father Ashokan told them that he has been providing her daughter with whatever she requires and asked them to leave. The girls protested in front of the house and a police team who reached the spot rounded them up.

They also took into custody Faisal, based on a complaint from local residents who said that he was seen in the area from morning. The cases were filed after Asokan registered a complaint.

On August 16, the Supreme Court had asked the NIA to probe the marriage of Hadiya to

under the supervision of retired SC judge Justice

to examine the alleged indoctrination and her conversion to Islam, and if it was part of an organized 'love jihad'.
