Carnatic vocalist Mavelikkara P Subramaniam dies

TRIPUNITHURA: Renowned Carnatic vocalist Mavelikkara P Subramaniam died here at his residence on Tuesday.

The only son of renowned musicians Padmanabha Iyer and Mavelikkara Ponnammal, Subramaniam learned the basics of Carnatic music from her mother. He was the winner of Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi's fellowship for lifetime contribution.

He leaves behind his wife Dhanalakshmi and children Harisankar and Ravisankar. As per his will, the body will be handed over to Ernakulam Medical College on Wednesday.
