Kerela Polls: Candidates make last minute home visits ahead of elections
Kochi: A day before elections, candidates were busy visiting important personalities, institutions and households. The workers of various political parties and fronts were busy in the last-minute preparatory works.
UDF candidate from Ernakulam constituency, T J Vinod started his campaign early morning. "He visited homes in Elamakkara and Chakkalapadam areas, meeting voters and seeking their support. He also personally visited flats in Vaduthala area. As part of renewing his bond with the people beyond political activities, he visited families in mourning to offer condolences," sources close to Vinod said.
He also met prominent figures from the socio-political sphere. Vinod visited the residence of senior socialist leader and former MP Thampan Thomas. Additionally, he also contacted various prominent individuals in the constituency to ensure their support for continued development.
LDF candidate for Tripunithura constituency, K N Unnikrishnan, started his silent campaign at 6am. "He visited Champakara market and spoke with the workers there. He understood their issues and assured them that they would be resolved. Later, he went to Palluruthy Nambyapuram, where 42 families are facing problems due to tidal floods. He listened to their concerns and gave a clear indication of a solution like the Vypeen model," sources close to Unnikrishnan said. He also met with Paul Vattathara, district vice president of Merchants' Association.
UDF's Anwar Sadath, who is once again seeking the mandate from Aluva constituency, also started his campaign on Wednesday morning. He used the silent campaign day to meet people at homes and visited prominent personalities and various institutions in the constituency.
According to workers of political parties, they were on the run to ensure that no houses or families were left out during the campaign.
