Brothers held for attacking private bus crew in Kochi

Kochi: Edathala police arrested two men on Saturday for allegedly assaulting a private bus crew and causing damage to the bus. The arrested persons have been identified as Ayub, 30, and his brother Altaf, 28, of Kuzhivelipady. The accused attacked private bus driver Shabeer and cleaner Albin late on Friday.The assault stemmed from a dispute over bus schedules. The accused forced their way into the bus from a stop in front of a hotel in Pukkattupady and attacked the staff. Shabeer was hit on the head with a stick, then dragged to the road and beaten. Albin, who tried to intervene, was also attacked, said police.The side glass, mirror and camera of the bus were damaged by the accused. The investigation team included inspector K Senod, SIs MV Arundev and CJ Kannadas, senior CPO EK Naseeb, and CPOs MS Abhilash, MA Subin, Haris and Ajil Raj.One more held in MDMA case: Angamaly police arrested one more accused in a case where 20g of MDMA was seized, leading to the arrest of three individuals, including a woman. The arrested person has been identified as Muhammed Suhail, 30, of Vadakara. He was arrested from Bengaluru.Earlier, Perumbavoor natives Swathi Krishna, 29, Aishwaryan Dineshan, 28, and Vishnu Chandran, 31, were arrested by the district anti-narcotic special action force (Dansaf) and Angamaly police. Police said that it was Suhail who sold the drugs to the trio. According to the police, he was a drug peddler in Bengaluru and a primary source of drugs trafficked to Kerala. A special investigation team, under the supervision of district police chief Vaibhav Saxena, apprehended him from his residence in Bengaluru.The investigation team included DSP TR Rajesh, inspector A Ramesh, and senior CPOs Ajitha Thilakan, MR Mithun, KR Mahesh and Abi Surendran. He was presented in court and remanded.
