Doctors develop innovative breast cancer treatment

Kochi: A team of doctors at the oncology department at Rajagiri Hospital has developed a cheaper and effective method for precisely identifying and removing residual tumours in breast cancer patients after chemotherapy.Called the clip and blue placement technique, surgical clips and methylene blue dye are used to accurately mark and remove tumours. Unlike expensive titanium clips or complex radioactive and magnetic seeds, this method significantly reduces costs from Rs 30,000 to Rs 2,000. Accurate tumour removal without compromising healthy tissue ensures that the natural shape of the breast is preserved.This method has been approved by the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
