KOCHI: It was a journey back to childhood for singer K J Yesudas as he took a tour of the venues of Kochi-Muziris Biennale on Tuesday. Since Aspinwall House, the main venue of the event, was close to his home in Mattancherry, it always had a special place for this singer.
He recalled a decades-old incident when he was routinely denied access to the area which used to be a busy office complex where his musician father, Augustine Joseph, was an employee.

"My father used to be a worker in the coir sector those days, before switching over to the world of cinema. As a child, I used to be curious about the activities inside this building, but never got a chance to get in," he said.
After a detailed view of the exhibits in the compound, he said, "The biennale is for those who think. And one should also have the curiosity of children to enjoy the installations, paintings and sculptures on display here. The event should be made a must for schoolchildren and art students."
He said congratulated the organizers for organizing an event of such scale. "Only people who are ignorant about the labour behind the show will criticise it," he said. Marxist ideologue M V Govindan, M V Shreyams Kumar MLA and renowned painter Arpana Caur also visited the three-month festival, which is ending on March 13.
The biennale is bracing up for a flurry of activities in the last round as organisers have lined up a symposia and cultural shows for the grand finale.
