Kochi: An 86-year-old bedridden woman was robbed of gold ornaments by an unidentified assailant who broke into her house in Muvattupuzha, Ernakulam, on Sunday morning.
According to FIR, the alleged
robbery occurred at 8.20am. Only the elderly woman and a home nurse were in the house when the assailant broke in. The FIR says that the accused pushed the nurse into the bathroom and locked her inside before robbing the elderly woman.
The woman was wearing a gold chain and four bangles, totally weighing around 10 sovereigns estimated to have a total value of Rs 11.6 lakh.
Muvattupuzha police registered an FIR based on the complaint of the woman’s brother and began an investigation.
Police sources said that statements of all persons, including that of the two women, need verification as there were inconsistencies. Police are also verifying the call records of the home nurse. Although the elderly woman claimed that the assailant forcefully took away the ornaments, police did not find any defensive injuries on her body, raising suspicion.
