Attack on writer M T Vasudevan Nair peak of fascism

THRISSUR: In a bid to form a united defence against the recent increase in

fascist attack towards the writers

, the

KPCC Vichar Vibhag district committee

organised a meeting on Monday at Sahitya Akademi Hall. extending support to writer M T Vasudevan Nair.

said that attacking some one like MT, a soft-spoken person by nature, should be considered as the peak of fascism and it should be criticized ruthlessly.

“I had taken a New Year resolution not to attend public meetings so as to focus on my writing. But, when I was invited for this meeting, I had to give up my resolution the very next day I took it,” he said adding that the Modi-led BJP government had been acting similar to the Hitler’s’ regime in Germany.

“As a writer has the freedom to express his opinion, people have the freedom to disagree to it. But character assassination of a person like MT in the name of disapproval to their opinions should be condemned,” he added.

MT faced the BJP ire following his comments criticizing the demonetisation. The event was coordinated by Samskarika Sahithi and presided over by DCC president T N Prathapan.

K Venu, R Gopalakrishnan, P V Krishnan Nair and Anil Akkara MLA took part in the event along with several Congress leaders.
