Art show to pay tributes to late writer
Kochi: More than 80 artists, musicians and writers will come together to pay their
Manoj Nair, who was highly regarded as an art writer, music theorist, critic and curator, was found dead at his rented house at Fort Kochi in June this year. The series of exhibitions titled ‘Between the Lines’ to be held at Gallery 27 at Mattancherry, is being organized by his friends and well-wishers.
Manoj who had served as editorial director of Kochi Muziris Biennale, had relocated to Kochi after wrapping up his career as a journalist in Delhi. He had almost completed work on the book Between the Rock and a Hard Place, on the history of alternative music in India, when he passed away.
‘Between the Lines’ was chosen as the title for the series of exhibitions, as it alludes to literature, visual arts and music simultaneously, and as these are three art forms that Manoj followed religiously and developed lifelong friendships in. ‘Between the Lines’ as a show is composed of three parts, like waves in a musical concert.
The first ‘wave’ of the show will begin in the first week of October, and will feature more than 25 artists , who will lovingly display their creations in the memory of more than three decades of Manoj’s active inculcation of friendships in art and culture. Subsequent waves of ‘Between the Lines’ will happen in November and December with artists from various cities in India and abroad.
