Akademi awards for Ameen, Sreeja

Thrissur: Kerala Lalithakala Akademi on Wednesday announced the annual awards for 2022. Ameen Khaleel (Balancing on unreal surface) and Sreeja Pallam (The Bride) won the awards in the painting category while Shan K R (untitled) received the award in sculpture. Prakasan K S (To recover something previously lost) won the award in the drawing section while Sreenadh K S won the award in the new media category, according to a release received from the Akademi.Anu John David (The Exodus) won the award in the creative photograph section and Unnikrishnan K (Amrit Kaal) has been selected as the best cartoonist. All these winners will receive a cash price of Rs 50,000 each, as well as a citation and a memento.Eight artists have been selected for the awards in the `Honorable mention’ category. Mibin (Painting) and Mohammed Yazir (Painting) have won the awards in this honourable mention category. Robert V J (Sculpture), Ammu S (Graphic print), Helna Joseph (New media), Manoj D (creative photograph) have also won the awards in the category. Madhusudanan K B and Sivakumar K M have won the honourable mention awards in the carton section, the release said. The Akademi has selected five artists for the special mention awards, as well as the various endowment awards and special jury awards.
