After Congress MLA row, woman accuses Kerala BJP leader C Krishnakumar of sexual harassment; he denies charges, cites property dispute

KOCHI: Close on the heels of sexual abuse allegations against Palakkad Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, a woman has lodged a sexual harassment complaint against BJP state vice-president C. Krishnakumar.

The woman sent her complaint by email to BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who confirmed that the matter will be looked into. She said that despite approaching senior party leaders and the RSS office earlier, no action was taken.



Reacting to the allegations, C Krishnakumar denied the charge and said it was an old case linked to his wife’s property dispute.

"This case, in fact, emerged out of the complainant's dissent over the partition of assets. The court settled it and also given a judgement based on a false complaint case filed by me. The court has ruled in my favour in both cases,” he said, reading out the judgment documents.

Krishnakumar added that the complainant had married a man from another religion in 2010 and was living in Ernakulam.

“In 2014, when my father-in-law was undergoing dialysis treatment at a hospital in Coimbatore, the complainant came home and checked his almirah for property documents. All of his assets were in my wife's name. She even assaulted her father after he got discharged from the hospital. Later, she got admitted to a hospital and filed a case. To make the case stronger, she also raised false allegations against me, claiming I tried to sexually assault her. Police investigated thoroughly at that time. My father-in-law even appeared before the judge and testified that my wife and I were the ones taking care of him,” Krishnakumar said.

Krishnakumar, who has been leading protests against Mamkootathil, claimed he knew who was behind the latest complaint.

“If this is what VD Satheesan meant by an ‘explosive bomb’, I would call it a damp squib, because there are already two court rulings against these complaints,” he said.

Meanwhile, former BJP leader and KPCC spokesperson Sandeep G. Varier had posted a suggestive message on social media on Tuesday, questioning whether the BJP would act against a core committee member, as Congress had done. Krishnakumar noted that Varier was still with the BJP when the earlier cases were ongoing.
