Adoor receives Aravindakshan award

Thrissur: The award instituted in memory of the noted Left thinker Prof V Aravindakshan was presented to the eminent film personality Adoor Gopalakrishnan by the CPM politburo member M A Baby at a function held here on Monday.
Baby said Gopalakrishnan occupies a unique stature in Indian cinema as he could combine the brilliant qualities of the Bengali film trio - Satyajit Ray, Ritwik Ghatak and Mrinal Sen.
He added that honouring Gopalakrishnan is a tribute to the film medium, which will be the art form and cultural expression of the coming centuries. Activist writer Prof Nivedita Menon delivered the memorial talk.
