ADM’s family discontent, seeks central agency probe

Kottayam: Former Kannur ADM Naveen Babu's family expressed dissatisfaction with the chargesheet as they alleged that the conspiracy angle was ignored by the investigation team.
Praveen Babu, brother of the deceased, said that the family was not satisfied with the chargesheet, adding that they weren't happy with the probe. "That is why we want a central agency to probe. We will go ahead with this demand," he said.
Naveen Babu's wife Manjusha said that the conspiracy angle appears to be missing in the chargesheet. "We will continue the legal battle," she said.
Speaking to reporters in Pathanamthitta, Praveen Babu said that as per the chargesheet, there was only one accused person. "We have been saying right from the beginning about conspiracy and involvement of others. The SIT didn't probe all those. What is the use of forming an SIT or changing the heads of the investigation team? Had the local police probed, the report would have been the same. We don't think the probe was conducted to address the concerns we raised," he said.
Praveen Babu said the probe was conducted only on the suicide aspect, whereas the family spoke about homicide. "We raised suspicion and also gave a complaint about the conspiracy angle and those involved in the conspiracy. The investigation didn't address those," he said. He alleged that former Kannur district panchayat president PP Divya's speech during Naveen Babu's send-off meeting was predetermined as per a conspiracy. "Definitely she is not alone. There is a group behind the incident," said Praveen Babu.
