KOCHI: Kochi City police probing the case registered in connection with the fake Facebook profile created in young actor Naslen K Gafoor’s name found that the profile was created in UAE. The police said that the fake profile was traced to an IP address in UAE and a further probe is on.
Meanwhile, the police said that the fake profile has been deleted from the social media platform. Kerala police reported the fake profile to Facebook and asked to delete it. However, it is not clear whether it was Facebook or whether the person who created the fake profile deleted it after the case was registered. “We found that the profile was created in the UAE. However, we are yet to trace who created it. A probe is underway,” said a police officer.
Earlier on Monday, Naslen filed a complaint at the cyber crime police station at Kakkanad alleging that an imposter was spreading false information through a fake Facebook profile created in his name. Naslen also sought the police’s help to delete the profile.
