Abhimanyu murder case

, arrested

resident Saneesh (28) on Wednesday. Police said he was connected to the trade union wing of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and was directly connected to the murder that happened on July 2.


The accused was arrested after receiving information from Fort Kochi resident Riyas, an accused in the case.

Though senior police officers confirmed that Saneesh was part of the group, they refused to divulge further information about his role in the murder. With this arrest, the total number of people arrested in connection with the case has increased to 14. Of this, at least five persons are accused of being directly involved in the murder.

The investigation team is still questioning Muhmmad, Adhil, Anoob and Nisar, who were remanded in police custody.

SFI leader Abhimanyu M, who was pursuing his graduation at Maharaja's College in

Ernakulam

was stabbed to death at the back gate of the college on July 2 during a clash.

The prime accused in the case, Muhammed JI, another student of the college is in police custody.
