Aalin’s family suspects funds being raised in baby’s name
Kottayam: The family of Aalin Sherin Abraham, Kerala's youngest organ donor, on Monday raised suspicions of funds being raised in the name of the 10-month-old, who passed away following a road accident, as well as those who received the organs.Aalin's grandfather Reji Samuel said that he received a phone call during the baby's funeral from a person seeking permission to send money to the family as some relief.Samuel said many people had told him that the relatives of those who received the organs had demanded money for follow-up treatments, adding that he wasn't sure how far it was true. He said why would those families seek money since govt was taking care of the ones who received the organs.He warned that the family would file a complaint if anyone indulged in collecting money in Aalin's name.CM visits Aalin's houseMeanwhile, chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday visited Aalin's residence in Mallappally and spoke with her parents Arun Abraham and Sherin Ann John.He hailed the parents' act of donating Aalin's organs as being noble and commendable.He enquired about the baby's details and consoled her parents and relatives.Health minister Veena George and former MLA Raju Abraham were also present during the chief minister's visit.
