4-mth-old, 3 others injured in stray dog attack
Kottayam: Four people, including a four-month-old child and an elderly woman, were seriously injured after being attacked by a stray dog in Pathiyoor panchayat in Kayamkulam in Alappuzha district on Tuesday. The shocking incident occurred around 5.45pm in ward 17 of Pathiyoor panchayat.
Rajamma (65) from Arattukulangara, north of Pullukulangara market, and her 4-month-old grandson Aarav were the first to be bitten. The dog ran up and leaped at the baby while he was in his grandmother’s arms. The infant was bitten on the leg and Rajamma was injured while trying to protect him.
Later, the same dog attacked and bit Rasheeda (44) and her daughter Amana (16), who were walking along the road. All four injured were immediately admitted to Kayamkulam taluk hospital.
There are widespread complaints that authorities are not taking action despite severe stray dog problem in Pullukulangara. Over the past few days, many people in the area have fallen victim to stray dog attacks.
