Thrissur: Revenue minister K Rajan on Friday said the next state cabinet meeting will decide on the quantum of the compensation to be given to the families of the road accident victims at Vadakkanchery on Thursday. Speaking to the media after visiting the house of basketball player Rohit Raj, who was killed in the accident, Rajan said Thrissur, Ernakulam and Kollam collectors have been asked to submit reports to assess the quantum of compensation. The victims belonged to these districts.
Meanwhile, the two students, who were undergoing treatment at the Thrissur Medical College Hospital with injuries sustained in the accident, are recovering fast. One of them, Aneetta (15), has been discharged.
In another development, MVD officers in the district have launched actions against the tourist buses violating the traffic laws in the backdrop of the accident. Though largely perceived as a mere knee-jerk reaction, officers have taken action against several buses during the drive.
