KOCHI: When curtain comes down on the CPM state conference on Friday, there is a strong possibility of Kodiyeri Balakrishnan getting one more stint as the party’s state secretary. Though the party is learned to have considered former acting secretary A Vijayaraghavan also for the post, the leadership gave weightage to Kodiyeri considering various factors.

Twenty new faces are likely to figure in the state committee which is to be elected on Friday. “The party leadership intends to bring down the average age of the state committee members by 10 years. Leaders of DYFI and SFI will get more consideration while forming the state committee,” a party source said.

, Kannur district secretariat member Valson Panoly, Kannur district secretariat member Sukanya, E N Suresh Babu from Palakkad, C V Varghese from Idukki, Kottayam district secretariat member Anil Kumar, E N Sunil Kumar and Jayan Babu from Thiruvananthapuram are likely to find a berth in the state committee.

State committee members P Jayarajan, Sreemarakrishna, M C Moitheen, C N Mohanan, Saji Cheriyan, V N Vasavan and C S Sujatha are also likely to get elected to the state secretariat.

As of now, there are 88 members in the state committee in addition to the eight special invitees.
