1,006 contact cases among 1,022 new positives in Ernakulam

KOCHI: Ernakulam on Saturday reported 1,022 Covid positive cases, including 1,006 contact ones. Of these, source of infection of 480 cases are unknown.
West Kochi reported more than 89 cases followed by Kadungalloor (39), Chellanam (38), Vengola (36) and Payipra (33). As many as 22 police personnel tested positive on Saturday. Ernakulam has 12,426 active cases, including the home care ones.
As many as 941 recovered from the disease on Saturday when 270 were discharged from hospitals and Covid first-line treatment centres.As part of Covid testing, 4,301 samples were sent for testing from both government and private sectors. The control room received 430 calls, including 179 from the public.
Meanwhile, the district administration posted 45 more sectoral magistrates for conducting inspection to implement Covid protocols. The administration had earlier posted 119 sectoral magistrates for the purpose.
Asked to vacate hostel, says Covid survivor
Kochi city police have received a complaint from a woman that she was asked to vacate her hostel room at Kadvanthara when she went back to the hostel after recovering from Covid. Police said that a case would be registered after preliminary investigation. The hostel authorities have reportedly told police that they only requested her to work from her home as the other inmates at the hostel were worried about she working from the hostel.
