100 families attend Malabar Sangamam

MalabarSangamamMalabarThe three-day festival gave a rare opportunity for the families from Malabar region to come together and share their memories.Organized by the Malabar cultural centre, the programme was held at Rajendra Maidan. A cookery contest was also organized as part of the event. Around 34 families participated in this contest.Executive member of Malabar cultural centre Nasser K said, participants brought dishes made from home for the contest. The fest offered an opportunity to taste several traditional dishes of the region. The event felicitated three eminent persons from the region-- P Bhaskaran, N V C Ahmmed Haji and K Abdulla-- who have been living in the city for the last 40 years. M Leelavathi was also felicitated. Seeing the response, the organizers said they are planning to organize the event every year.
