Young talents shine in chess championship

Kanpur: Kashvi, Hridaya Singh, Sanvi Omar, Ananya Mishra, Bhavika Verma, Nandini Bajpai and Nikita secured titles in their respective categories at the inaugural Kanak Vishnoi memorial chess championship conducted at JMD school on Saturday.
106 girls participated across 7 age groups in the five-round tournament. Results:
Regional sports office of Directorate of sports Lucknow will organise a cross country race for men and women on Jan 26, commemorating Republic Day.
According to Vijay Kumar, regional sports officer, the men's race spans 5 kms whilst women's race covers 3 kms within Green Park stadium. Entry is complimentary with chest numbers available from 6 am. Top six finishers in both categories shall receive prizes.
Approximately 32 universities from Central Zone shall participate in All India Inter University Football championship scheduled at CSJM university Kanpur from Jan 29 to Feb 2025, stated Prabhakar Pandey, sports secretary of the University.tnn
