Woman masks hubby’s murder as sex-enhancing drug overdose

Kanpur: A woman in Kanpur's Bithoor was arrested for trying to mask her husband's murder as an accidental overdose by placing eight performance-enhancing drug wrappers in the victim's pocket. Police are on the lookout for her paramour Rehan and an accomplice Vikas who helped them execute the murder. All three now face murder charges.Abid, who operated fairground rides in Dhruv Nagar in Bithoor, was discovered dead on January 18. His wife, Shabana, informed her brother Salim that Abid succumbed to excessive consumption of performance-enhancing substances. However, Salim noticed strangulation marks on Abid's neck and became suspicious. When questioned, Shabana evaded providing answers. The deceased's brother-in-law lodged a complaint against his sister and her paramour for murder and conspiracy.Abid, originally from Dibiyapur in Auraiya, resided in Dhruv Nagar, Bithoor, with Shabana and their son for two decades, working at fairs. Following his suspicious death on Saturday, police discovered eight empty stimulant drug wrappers in his pocket. The post-mortem examination confirmed death by strangulation. Based on Salim's complaint, authorities filed charges against Shabana and her lover Rehan from Bangarmau, Unnao. Shabana was arrested on Wednesday night.During questioning, Shabana admitted that frequent disputes with Abid led her to conspire with Rehan. She facilitated Rehan's entry into their home. Vikas, who faced financial difficulties, was recruited into the plot by Rehan. The trio assaulted and strangled Abid. Salim revealed that whilst investigating his brother-in-law's death, he discovered Rehan's frequent visits to their home, which caused arguments with Abid.Shabana disclosed that she connected with Rehan via Facebook a year ago. He worked as an auto driver in Delhi. Their relationship developed amidst domestic disputes, with their son Salman living with his uncle. Recently, Rehan's associate Vikas, now working as a cook in Ludhiana, needed Rs 20,000 for a vehicle. Shabana transferred this amount through Rehan, who gave half to Vikas.DCP West Rajesh Kumar Singh confirmed that following Salim's complaint, authorities registered a murder case against Shabana and Rehan. Whilst Shabana is in custody, the search for Rehan continues.
