KANPUR: A 24-year-old woman, Akanksha Rajput, allegedly killed her eight-month-old son before ending her life by hanging herself. The incident took place in Shyamnagar locality under the limits of Mau Darwaza police station of Farrukhabad district on Sunday evening.
Mau Darwaza police station in charge Vinod Shukla said that on Sunday evening, Akanksha ended her life hanging herself from the ceiling fan with a sari around the neck, after strangling to death her eight-month-old son.
Her husband, Akhilesh Rajput, resident of Shyamnagar Mohalla of Mau Darwaza police station, sells samosas on Bewar Road. Akanksha was at home with their son, Divyansh. Akhilesh’s brother Pankaj lives with his wife Sunita in the adjacent house, while their mother Maya Devi lives with their eldest brother Hori Lal at some distance. On Sunday afternoon, Maya Devi visited Akhilesh’s house and found a rope tied to the doorway, preventing entry.
She alerted Akhilesh, who reached the spot and forced open the door to find Akanksha hanging hanging from the ceiling fan. Akhilesh informed police. “We have informed Akanksha’s family in Shivli village of Sujanpur police station in Kanpur,” said police station in charge Vinod Shukla, adding that investigations were underway.
