Woman killed, over 20 injured after pvt bus overturns into roadside ditch

Kanpur: A speeding private bus travelling from Konch to Orai lost control and overturned into a deep roadside ditch on the Konch-Orai route on Friday, killing a woman on the spot and seriously injuring more than 20 passengers.

Nearly 40-50 passengers were on board at the time of the accident. The incident triggered screams and panic among the passengers, with many trapped inside the overturned bus and crying out for help.

According to eyewitnesses, the bus was loaded with passengers and was moving at very high speed when the driver suddenly lost control midway. The bus swerved and fell directly into the ditch, leading to chaos among those inside.

Villagers working in nearby fields rushed to the spot on hearing the sound of the accident and the screams. They broke the glass panes and windows of the bus and pulled out the injured.

On receiving information, local police and CO Parmeshwar Prasad arrived at the scene with force. Ambulances transported all the injured to the district hospital, where the condition of several remained critical. Efforts were being made to identify the woman who died.

According to hospital administration, the injured included children and elderly persons. As the injured arrived at the district hospital, a state of chaos prevailed, and a team of doctors was immediately deployed in the emergency ward.
