Kanpur: Woman found murdered in rented room, probe on

KANPUR: A 45-year-old woman was strangled to death in Shivnagar area of Raniya in Kanpur Dehat. The incident came to light after the landlord visited the woman’s rented portion on Saturday afternoon and alerted the police.

A police and forensic team reached the spot and started an investigation.

The police have identified the deceased as Munni Devi, wife of Veer Singh, a resident of Panki Gangaganj Kapili Hanumant Nagar in Kanpur. She was living alone in Jitendra Tiwari’s house on rent in Shivnagar, Raniya.

When Jitendra Tiwari reached the house on Saturday afternoon, he got suspicious on seeing the gates locked. On peeping inside the house he saw Munni Devi’s slippers and belongings inside.

Circle officer Prabhat Kumar said that investigation is being done.

“The woman had informed her family members about her job in some hospital. The name of the hospital is yet to be found,” he said.
