Woman dies, three suffer serious burns in dispute over e-rick

Kanpur: A dispute over an e-rickshaw took a violent turn after a 35-year-old woman died, while her husband and two other women suffered burn injuries in Badlipurwa in Cantt area of the city on Tuesday.
According to reports, one Ram Kumar, who lives with his uncle Ram Narayan (60) in Badlipurwa had a dispute with his uncle over an e-rickshaw. Ram Narayan poured a bucket full of petrol on Ram Kumar and set him on fire. Hearing the screams of Ram Kumar, his wife Sapna and two other women living in the neighbourhood came to his rescue. But while saving Ram Kumar, his wife Sapna and the other two women also sustained serious burns.
The police, on being informed, rushed to the spot and admitted all the four injured at Ursala Hospital, where Sapna succumbed to burn injuries.
Cantt station in-charge Archana Singh said that Ramkumar’s uncle Ram Narayan had resorted to extreme steps following a dispute over an E-rickshaw.
His wife Sapna who sustained serious burns, succumbed during treatment. Two neighbourhood women also sustained burns while trying to save him. “They are undergoing treatment at Ursala Hospital. Action is being taken in the matter. The accused has been detained. Further investigations are underway,” she said.
