Kanpur: A 65-year-old woman died after her thatched hut caught fire in Doctor Farm Majra, Domanpur village, under the limits of Maharajpur police station in the district, late on Saturday night.
Phoolkumari (65), lived in Doctor Farm Majra, Domanpur village, in a thatched dwelling. On Saturday night she was trying to light a fire when her hut caught the fire. Her husband, Govardhan Nishad, was away visiting relatives, while her sons were guarding their agricultural fields.
On being alerted, the fire brigade responded promptly and reached the site to douse the fire. Maharajpur police station in-charge Sanjay Kumar Pandey said that the body was sent for post-mortem examination. Subsequent actions would be determined based on the post-mortem findings and statements from the family, he added.
