Kanpur: A woman filed a case at Kidwai Nagar police station against the branch manager of a city bank in Nirala Nagar, alleging that Rs 4.95 lakh was withdrawn from her account in three transactions without a one-time password (OTP).
According to the complaint filed by Ratna, wife of Manoj Saxena, a resident of Keshav Nagar, W Block, she had a savings account and used only a chequebook for withdrawals.

She stated that on the evening of July 12, 2024, a total of Rs 4.95 lakh was withdrawn from her account in three transactions, about which she received an SMS. She then informed the bank as well as the police about the matter.
She alleged that she made several rounds of Kidwai Nagar police station to file a
cyber fraud report. She then complained to the DCP South as well as the Police Commissioner's office.
She then filed a complaint with the banking ombudsman.
The investigation revealed that Rs 2 lakh was transferred to the account of Saklak Mushtaq, a resident of Gurugram, while the remaining Rs 2.95 lakh was sent to the account of Tanzura Khatoon.
The entire amount was withdrawn from the related accounts. All accounts were opened digitally and verified under e-KYC. Kidwai Nagar police station in-charge Dharmendra Kumar Ram said that a report was filed against the branch manager and others on the court's order. The case is being investigated.
