Village mourns loss of coast guard pilot

Kanpur: The mortal remains of coast guard pilot Sudhir Kumar Yadav reached his native village Harkishanpur in Maitha, Kanpur Dehat, on Wednesday. Villagers paid homage by placing flowers on his remains. A pall of gloom descended in his native village upon the arrival of his body.Subsequently, the final procession proceeded from Sudhir's residence to Ganga ghat in Bithoor, where last rites were performed with full state honours. Sudhir Yadav, who served as a pilot in the Indian Coast Guard, was the younger son of Nawab Singh Yadav from Kanpur Dehat. He lost his life in a helicopter accident in Porbandar on Sunday afternoon.His remains, wrapped in the tricolour, were transported by road from Lucknow Airport to his residence in Shyam Nagar in Kanpur on Tuesday afternoon.Rajmani, Sudhir's mother said, "He is making me offer flowers, when it should have been him doing it for me." His father broke down in tears while offering flowers to his son, while people present there consoled him.Earlier, the mortal remains of Sudhir Yadav were brought to Lucknow Airport by a special flight from Gujarat on Tuesday. Following this, the Lucknow police escorted it to the Unnao border. From the Kanpur border, the commissionerate of police created a green corridor to transport the body home via Ramadevi.
