UP East clinch Rama Mishra memorial champions trophy

Kanpur: UP East clinched the Rama Mishra memorial champions trophy, defeating UP North by 6 wickets in the final contested under floodlights at the TSH ground on Sunday evening.UP North, having been asked to bat first, amassed a substantial total of 6 for 171 in 20 overs. Opener Irfan Khan departed without scoring, bowled by Uday Pratap Singh in the inaugural over. However, Ravi Chawla and Majid Hasan Khan orchestrated a recovery, forging a crucial 113-run partnership for the second wicket.This partnership proved pivotal as both batsmen registered half-centuries. Ravi Chawla crafted 59 runs from 49 deliveries, including 6 boundaries and one six, before falling to Uday Pratap Singh. Majid contributed 69 runs from 60 deliveries, striking 6 boundaries and 4 sixes, eventually dismissed by Shivakant Shukla. R Kapoor and Urooj Ali added 17 and 12 runs respectively. Right-arm medium pacer Uday Pratap Singh secured 3 wickets for 39 runs.UP East successfully chased down the target, scoring 172 runs for 4 wickets in 19 overs. Shivakant Shukla, Ashish Yadav, and Vipul Tiwari were the principal scorers, contributing 42, 47, and 20 runs respectively. Shailendra Singh and Vineet Singh added 18 and 16 runs respectively. Shivakant and Ashish constructed a match-winning 99-run partnership for the second wicket. Manoj Yadav captured 2 wickets for 31 runs. Ashish Yadav of UP East earned the Man of the Match accolade.Post-match, UP Veteran Cricket Association honoured former UP Ranji trophy captain and BCCI match referee Sunil Chaturvedi with a Lifetime Achievement Award. As chief guest, he presented the trophy to the victorious UP East team.
